Space X (Half Dozen)
The Space X Nymph is a fairly new, but hugely successful fly pattern designed by Devin Olsen. Here’s a man that really doesn’t need an introduction, and if you’ve not heard of him, you might need to pay more attention to what’s been going on in modern fly fishing techniques. Or just look at the results of Team USA in international fly fishing competition. In Devin’s words, “A tag nymph variation that has become part of this core working group is the Space X Nymph. It is built on the classic black, pink, and silver combination which is found on a lot of European patterns”. The combination cuts a nice silhouette in dark lighting or stained water but it has also worked well in clear water and low flows over this past season.
